Social and Environmental Initiatives
Mauritius
In collaboration with the Mouvement Pour le Progrès de Roche Bois (MPPR), a charitable NGO which caters for the welfare of the ‘enfants défavorisés’ around the Roche Bois area, we are helping young students at primary schools by providing stationery and books. The funds would be used to sponsor the schooling of one child at Centre Montfort. Since start year 2009, we at DCDM Consulting started to adopt green behaviours in our daily activities. Simple but efficient measures such as selective waste sorting and the promotion of reusable items instead of throwaway containers can significantly help the environment in the long run. DCDMC is currently busy trying to affiliate itself with “Mission Verte”, a local NGO who is devoted to selective waste disposal, recycling and other ecological activities. Moreover, as an IT Company employing some of the brightest minds in Mauritius, we are putting technology to use, whenever and wherever possible, to preserve our environment. In our 2009 campaign, we are promoting the use of Virtualization Software and PDF Printers as sure and quick ways to achieve sustainability. Our HR department has also recently launched an initiative to replace our yearly paper based survey exercise with a more efficient online survey engine.
Botswana
We support the nationwide effort to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic. At Metsimotlhabe, a team of dedicated people have devoted their lives to the service of their brothers and sisters living in the most abject conditions as a result of the pandemic. Every year we visit them and make a donation as a token of our gratitude to their initiative and a sign of appreciation of their work. Thanks to them these sick people can be restored to their human dignity.
We also support academic institutions which look to us for assistance in multiple ways. Thus, for example, we regularly admit university students for internship, we willingly participate in events whenever sollicited, such as for example open forums, job fairs, lectures and speeches.
We have a budget for other ad-hoc sponsorships to improve the community life. Our sponsorship is in accordance with certain principles so that it may benefit a large number of people in the community for a cause that resonates with our core values.
