IRD and DCDMC partnered on a strategic project in Botswana in 2007 to implement a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, high speed weigh-in-motion and weighbridge solution that allows pictures of a vehicle to be taken as well as axle-by-axle weight. The data thus gathered from the road is instantly and automatically sent to an Oracle database. This database forms part of a comprehensive business application which is interfaced with other Oracle enterprise applications to provide a complete view of the overload control and road utilisation situation. The partnership between IRD and DCDMC was a success from the onset and the two organisations continue to enjoy a cordial and fruitful relationship. DCDMC is the agent of IRD in Southern and Eastern Africa.
